In March (for the drink) and April (for the food) 2011 took place this year’s tasting sessions for the Superior Taste Award. And this edition has been more tasteful and rich as ever! Not less than 906 products from 62 different countries had been registered and have been tested by our different panels of Sommeliers and Masterchefs.

Here are some infos on how the Tastings were organised this year! Our teams of chefs and sommeliers met at the Chateau de la Bawette, Wavre (Belgium) during the two sets of dates. Different Jury-panels have been formed and our Preparation Team made sure all the products were presented according to the exact specifications given by each producer. Good to know that we have a Japanese and a Chinese colleague in our team so as to read the preparation instructions of the products. For the coffees, a professionnal barrista prepared evey coffee according to the prescribed rules. It is amazing how these professional sommeliers and chefs do recognize the diferent sensory elements of the products they taste from morning til afternoon, with the same attention and a high concentration.

The results of 2011 are excellent: 73% of the products got an award amongst which 144 products (15.9% of total) got the highest 3 star mark.

It is now up to each awarded producer to communicate on it and to let their markets know about the good news and hence increase their sales.

Next step will be the prestigious award ceremony on the 26th of May, in Brussels. We will keep you posted on it.
